This is Kellea's Story

I first met Kellea via her partner Dan. We had dinner one night with our kids and husbands and what struck me was Kellea and Dan’s commitment to really making a life together that wasn’t bound by usual conventions of gender roles when it came to bringing up Lola. Kellea works as an activist for LBGT rights and had some excellent and insightful anecdotes about the differences in approaches to parenting between her straight and gay friends.

Over the course of the evening, I told Kellea about this idea and asked if I could interview her. Lucky for me she said yes! What transpired was a truly heartfelt, incredible and tragic story about how Lola came into this world and I am grateful and humbled by Kellea and Dan for sharing it with me and allowing me to share this story with you.
